Porters Newsletter - 18th March 2010

Kia ora, and welcome to Porters first newsletter for 2010!

Hopefully you’ve all managed to enjoy some fine kiwi summer weather, albeit fleeting, over the past few months. As is customary during our summer period, we’ve been flat out on the hill, working hard and implementing our annual maintenance programmes.

FROM THE MOUNTAIN

The maintenance and operations team have been battling the summer heat to complete several key enhancements to the ski area. Up at the top of Bluff Face, some nerve-racking moments ensued as work was completed on re-aligning the corner of Adrian’s Highway which wraps out onto upper Bluff Face. This improvement will make access to this popular terrain smoother for regular users, and inviting for those skiers and riders looking to tackle Bluff for the first time. Well done to the team, not an easy job!

We’ve also been completing a full overhaul of our snow fencing, which contributes considerably to catching and retaining as much snow as possible in key areas. Work is also progressing on number of improvements with a focus on enhancing your family’s experience at Porters – we’ll have more for you on those additions closer to the season…

Behind the scenes, the Porters directors continue with consultation and planning relating to the Porters Expansion, and are looking to lodge their applications later this year.
