Porters Newsfeed - 16th July
KIA ORA,
The second week of the school holidays, and it has been awesome up here at Porters. We're still yet to have a closed mountain day! Awesome that we've been able to enjoy the long sunny days on the hill with great snow, and as luck would have it, looks like a small amount of snow due over the next couple of days to round out another great week.

MC and Luca, beautiful day at Porters
We hope that you've enjoyed spending the holidays with us, and our commiserations as you head back to school or work next week. But, all is not lost, we'll still be here and there's so much more of winter to go! Read on for more information and action from the slopes...
FROM THE MOUNTAIN
The skiing has been great. A cold, wintery snow pack has been the order of the week, with the sun playing it's part on some slopes and the shade holding it up in others. Different stroes for different folks, but there are still some great pockets of snow that have been skiing very well in recent days.

SNOWMAKING PRODUCT A++
As they say, 'you can't beat the real thing', but the Porters Ops crew are getting pretty close if the feedback from skiers and snowboarders is anything to go by.

The guns are cranking, and churning out some supreme product.
The Snowmaking team up at Porters have had a mixed bag of a winter snow far - some good temps for snowmaking leading into winter allowing a good base to be built along with natural snowfalls, and a mixture of cool and warm conditions over the early part of the season. Recent cooler weather has allowed the team to make a good amount of snow int he last 7-10 days.
Many skiers are always scepticle of 'man-made' snow, suggesting that all snow from the guns is of far lower quailty than natural precipitation. Following the recent snowmaking efforts, we've received a considerable amount of feedback that the snow quaiity, or 'top-up' of snow on the lower slopes has made for fantastic skiing. Luke Armstrong, Operations Manager at Porters, is very happy with the product out of the guns recenty. "We've had overwhelming feedback as to the quality of the product the snowmaking team are churning out, which is a great result, and is making for superb skiing on the lower mountain."

Up close and personal with the snow that results from low temps and guns firing.
The snowmaking team will continue to produce snow as the season progresses, combining the man-made product with natural snow. This makes for a stable, safe and more durable snowpack, with more residual air in the snowpack itself. Come and check out the snow for yourself!
