The snowfall thousands of Canterbury skiers and snowboarders have been waiting for, has arrived at Porters, changing the alpine landscape with a significant blanket of dry winter snow. Today we received an additional 10cm of new snow, meaning we have received more than half a metre of fresh snow this week.

The top lifts are open, covered with awesome dry powder snow which fell over the last few days. Snow conditions on ‘The Leaper’ and ‘Bluff Face’ have been as good as you can get; cold, dry winter powder. These are the best runs on offer at the moment, as well as ‘Julian’s Bowl’ which is skiing very well.
On the lower slopes, the snow base laid down by our snowmaking system earlier this season is pristine, with constant top ups of fresh snow this week making for perfect beginner and intermediate conditions.
Check the conditions out for yourself! Our friends at TV1 News visited on Weds 13th August and put together the following video clip.
Weather for the Weekend
Conditions leading into this weekend are looking great. Snow showers are forecast to clear as the front passes on Thursday with mainly fine weather and a Sou-west flow persisting behind the front, which will keep the snow in great condition. Mainly fine weather is forecast for both Saturday and Sunday making for what could be the best weekend of the season.
