The snowfall thousands of Canterbury skiers and snowboarders have been waiting for, has arrived at Porters, changing the alpine landscape with a significant blanket of dry winter snow. Today we received an additional 10cm of new snow, meaning we have received more than half a metre of fresh snow this week.
We have had a couple of magical days on the mountain this week with recent snowfalls and great snow-making conditions providing fantastic conditions for everyone to enjoy. There have been loads of happy school kids up here enjoying a very special time on the snow. Check out the recent video update from earlier this week by clicking here or the image below.
It has been a stormy week so far, with strong winds resulting in a couple of closed days. Whilst frustrating, snow doesn’t come without a storm, and we’re eagerly awaiting a change in the gradients and temperatures that are forecast to bring snow in the coming days.
We hope that going ‘back to school’ hasn’t been too tough for you after a relaxing holiday break.
There has been fantastic skiing on offer this week with cold temperatures continuing. The weather is looking perfect this weekend, so why don’t you finish your week off on a high, and come on up for some fun on the snow.
The school holidays are with us. It has been great to see so many smiley young faces enjoying their time on the slopes. We have fantastic snow cover across the main runs on the lower mountain, courtesy of our new state-of-the-art snowmaking system. It’s an ideal opportunity for beginner and intermediate riders and skiers to make the most of our great learning conditions.
