Good news! Porters will open the lower mountain tomorrow, just in time for the school holidays. As you know, the weather has been quite changeable lately, with unseasonably warm conditions. Luckily, our snowmakers and groomers have been working steadily to cover the beginner areas and Easy Street.

Despite the fantastic snow conditions in early June, the warm weather over the last week has significantly affected the snow coverage on the lower mountain.

It has been such a good season for Porters in so many ways! We were delighted to get underway so early and now as we close, we can reflect on the winter with some relief and thankfulness.

It is mid-September and the snow keeps falling- another 20cm of snow in the last couple of days has given us superb winter skiing conditions in springtime. While it is blustery and cloudy in the city, up here we have clear skies and the best tail-end of a season we have seen in a very long time.

What a great day, it was so good to see so many local kids up here having a blast on the second ever local schools derby race.
August Events Update

Last Saturday and Sunday, Porters had record-breaking numbers of skiers and boarders on the hill. The snow conditions and the weather combined into the perfect weekend, made extra special with the added excitement of our inaugural After Dark session. The floodlit Park Jam ran from 6 -8:30 pm and participants thrilled the spectators with their skills and daring. It was an awesome event which we hope to repeat in the near future. The overall winner of the session was Eli Woollaston – thanks to everyone who participated and came along to watch.
Inter Schools Race

On the 26th of August we held the annual Intermediate Inter Schools Race, it was a great success with lots of happy kids. It was awesome to have so much local talent up here at Porters and we saw a lot of great runs. Check out the times in the link below!
